Upgrading to Windows 7 caused my webcam to stop functioning. I think the problem is two-fold. 1 I no longer have the original software. 2 Software cannot detect the webcam.
If I go to the device manager it says my driver is up to date and that I have a composite USB device with a pic of a camera. When I download software it tries to link to the cam and doesn t. Even google video chat will not recognize the camera. The original
sony software from the sony vaio site is still formatted for Vista I think so that doesn t help either.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Method 1. Compatibility mode installation of drivers:
If there are no drivers available for Windows 7 64 bit, download the Windows Vista drivers and install them in Windows Vista SP 2 compatibility mode.

If the above steps do not help in resolving the issue. I would recommend you to contact sony support for same as it might require some software to be installed on your computer to make the webcam work

I just addressed this issue on a friends laptop and the only method that fixed the problem was posted
on a different microsfot forum.
In case this didnt work, try this:
Go to update driver USB VIDEO etc.. go for the option you have DISK, than make a pause, Run the same driver downloaded for VISTA and wait to hit the next button, then: Go to your temp folder, and search for the last folder created, there you will find the
. INF file. Select it, and Voila.
it works in webcam companion 2.
Temp folder is in: Users/ user /AppData/Local/Temp/
just look for the time you run the DRIVER FILE from sony. and look for that folder.
that fixed the problem for me perfectly though i still did run the Windows Vista driver install with the windows vista SP2 comparability option selected in the properties of the install file.
my laptop sony now i chang harddisk and new window7 but webcam is not working
